They detonate the air itself, causing a lethal blast and pressure spike that cannot be absorbed by fortifications or body armor.

>The TOS-1 system was developed in great secrecy in the 1980s and first deployed during the Soviet-Afghan War. Russian forces later used them in Chechnya and possibly Ukraine. Foreign operators include Armenia and Azerbaijan, both of which deploy the system in their ongoing conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, as well as the Syrian government. To minimize civilian casualties caused by the FAE’s large blast zones, human rights groups have advised against their use in urban areas.
