미국이 1990년대의 전성기를 지나서 쇠퇴하고 있다는 이론이다. 미국의 패권 약화로 인한 다극화에서 부터, [[미국 붕괴론]] 까지 다양한 범위의 미국 쇠퇴론이 있다.

== 상세 ==
베트남 전쟁 시기에 유행했었다. 1990년대 소련 붕괴와 걸프전으로 잠잠해졌다. 2000년대 [[테러와의 전쟁]]과, 2008년 세계 금융 위기 이후로 다시 부상하였다.
